Jordan Mason (thumb) is questionable to play in Week 7 against the Colts.

Mason practiced in full all week. He seemingly has good odds of suiting up, but sometimes NFL teams will give players extra time off when they are returning from injured reserve. If Mason plays this weekend, he should be able to handle his normal lead-rushing role. In that case, he can be started as an RB2/FLEX.
Moore returns from injury, should you start him?
Can DJ Moore turn around his season after notching just one reception in the month of October? Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter are cautiously optimistic.

Jones’ status will be one to watch this week as the Vikings prepare for their Week 8 matchup against the Lions. While the team calling him day-to-day is encouraging, Jones was already dealing with a knee injury entering Week 7, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Vikings opted to sit him this week to give him some additional time to recover. Jordan Mason, who rushed 15 times for 68 yards in Sunday’s win over the Colts could be in line for a busy day against the Lions if Jones is unable to go.
  • MIN Running Back #27
Mason did not start for the Vikings, but out-touched and out-snapped Aaron Jones. He was the primary early-down back and saw two targets as well, though he did not catch either of them. Jones (knee) exited the game in the fourth quarter, leading to Mason finishing out the game for the Vikings. Even before the Jones injury, Mason was the the back with the highest utilization. Mason is a low-end fantasy RB2 heading into a soft Week 8 matchup against the Lions; he could emerge as a top-15 option if Jones misses time.
  • MIN Running Back #27
The Vikings activated Mason off injured reserve and he is officially active for the first time since suffering a thumb injury in Week 1. He will split backfield touches with Aaron Jones, with Jones likely getting more of the passing-down work and Mason more the early-down work. Mason is a fantasy RB3 in his return. The Vikings declared S Jakobe Thomas, QB Max Brosmer, CB Chuck Demmings, RB Demond Claiborne, DL Elijah Willliams and OT Caleb Tiernan inactive for Week 7 against the Colts.
  • MIN Running Back #27
Mason came into the season as the presumed lead back in a timeshare with Aaron Jones, the latter of whom has performed as a true workhorse in Mason’s absence. Although it could take a week or two for Mason to fully regain the lead back role, his presence significantly mutes the potential of Jones. Expect a near-even split when the Vikings take on the Colts in Week 7.
  • MIN Running Back #27
Mason is firmly on track to play in Week 7 against the Colts. He should tentatively be expected to lead the backfield in carries right away, with Aaron Jones potentially settling into a 1B role. The Colts’ defense is not an imposing unit, so both running backs are FLEX-viable this week.
  • MIN Running Back #27
His 21-day practice window will open; most of the reporting is that the Vikings expect him to play in Week 7. Assuming that’s the case, we expect to see him hit the ground running on the Wednesday practice report with at least a limited session and perhaps a full.
  • MIN Running Back #27
Lewis connects the Vikings to Chargers backs Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal as well as Tennessee’s Tony Pollard, Tampa Bay’s Kenneth Gainwell, and Arizona’s Tyler Allgeier. These are just whispers at the moment, but any kind of costly trade acquisition would cut into the playing time and fantasy value of Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones. The Vikings have clearly already been shuffling depth pieces around so we believe there could be more urgency there as the trade deadline gets closer.
  • MIN Running Back #27
Late last week, Fowler’s colleague, Kevin Seifert, reported that Mason is expected to return in Week 7 as well. Add him if he is available. Mason is not involved much as a receiver, but his expected rushing workload makes him a reliable FLEX with RB2 upside.
  • MIN Running Back #27
The Vikings play the Saints this week, then go on bye in Week 6, so Aaron Jones has one more massive workload week ahead of him against New Orleans before the backfield heads back to a split. Mason looked good in the early going and, if he was cut loose in a shallow league, makes a worthwhile pickup.
  • MIN Running Back #27
That escalated quickly. On Monday, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said Mason’s “sore thumb” was being evaluated. Apparently, it had sustained a small fracture, which has now been “fixed,” ostensibly surgically, given O’Connell’s phrasing. Short-term injured reserve placement requires players to miss four games, but the Vikings are on bye in Week 6, so Mason will be eligible to return in Week 7. Mason led the backfield with 15 carries in Week 1, so his absence provides RB Aaron Jones with a touch-count boost. Veteran RB DeeJay Dallas operated as the RB3. Rookie RB Demond Claiborne was inactive last week, but should be active in Week 2 against the Lions. Speculatively stashing him could be worthwhile.

Tucker Kraft caught 6-of-6 targets for 53 yards with a touchdown in the Packers’ Week 8 win over the Panthers.

Kraft was able to bring in a score between a pair of defenders to give the Pack a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. That’s back-to-back games for the tight end with a score, and three in the first half of 2026. Kraft has seen a similar amount of involvement throughout the campaign, and he’ll likely put up a similar statline — hopefully with a touchdown for fantasy managers who roster him — in Week 9 versus the Patriots.

Christian Watson caught 8-of-10 targets for 113 yards in the Packers’ Week 8 win over the Panthers.

The fact that Watson was able to even play in the second half was incredible, as the 27-year-old was forced to be examined at the hospital following a chest injury. He didn’t do much after putting up 100 yards in the first half, but again, that’s not really the story here. Watson told reporters after the game that he was coughing up blood and suffered a fractured rib before returning. Assuming no setbacks, he’s a WR1 candidate for Week 9 against the Patriots, but keep in mind Christian Gonzalez — on top of this injury — can make things difficult.

Matthew Golden caught 7-of-13 targets for 79 yards and a touchdown in the Packers’ Week 8 win over the Panthers.

Golden is rarely boring, that’s for sure. He dropped two passes, and one of those was a wide-open touchdown in the second quarter. The good news for Golden, Jordan Love and fantasy managers was that he was wide open again on the next play, and he was able to bring that pass in. Golden’s athleticism and ability to get down field is unquestionable, but to say the efficiency isn’t there is an understatement. He’ll be back at it in Week 9 against the Patriots.

Jalen Coker caught 2-of-5 targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ Week 8 loss to the Packers while also losing a fumble.

Coker’s fumble came on the last play of the game as the Panthers played pitchy woo woo in their attempt to tie the game. The 24-year-old didn’t have a catch in the first half, but salvaged his fantasy day — to a point, anyway — with a 26-yard touchdown from Bryce Young. The 24-year-old has just three catches over the last two games, and he’ll try and get things going against the Broncos in Week 9.

Tetairoa McMillan caught 6-of-11 targets for 57 yards in the Panthers’ Week 8 loss to the Packers.

McMillan had a long gain of just 14 yards, as Bryce Young just didn’t have time to get the ball down the field and wasn’t particularly accurate on the rare times he did. The wideout was targeted early and often, but it was an inefficient effort for the 23-year-old, at best. Even as the clear top option in this passing attack — all due respect to Jalen Coker — there’s a ton of volatility in McMillan’s fantasy profile, and that won’t change for Week 9 against the Broncos.

Chuba Hubbard rushed 22 times for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ Week 8 loss to the Packers, adding five receptions for 38 yards.

Hubbard was easily the most effective offensive player for the Panthers, but that’s at least partially an insult to everyone else as much as it was compliment to him. The tailback was able to make the most of the limited rushing room, and with Bryce Young having zero time to throw the football, he was a frequent target of Young’s checkdowns. Trevor Etienne received just one carry for one yard, meanwhile. Hubbard’s usage makes him a high-end RB2 for Week 9 against the Broncos, even if it’s more floor than ceiling.

Josh Jacobs rushed 21 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Packers’ Week 8 win over the Panthers, adding six catches for 13 yards and another score.

Jacobs’ fantasy game was salvaged with two scores, but the tailback didn’t look particularly spry in the process. He had a long gain of just six, and there was almost no burst even against the porous Panthers’ run defense. He was involved in the passing game, but again, outside of his two-yard receiving score, there really wasn’t much there. It’s clear this is Jacobs’ backfield despite the scuffles, as MarShawn Lloyd had just three touches in the contest for seven yards. He’s a volatile low-end RB1 candidate for Week 9 against the Patriots.

Bryce Young completed 23-of-41 passes for 209 yards with a touchdown and an interceptions in the Panthers’ 27-19, Week 8 loss to the Packers.

Those who believe that sacks are a quarterback stat might change their mind watching the Panthers block Thursday night. The 25-year-old had no time to throw and couldn’t get out of the pocket while taking six sacks and being pressured on what seemed like every throw. That’s not to say that Young was completely a victim of his circumstance; he struggled with accuracy and couldn’t get the ball downfield in another ugly performance for the 25-year-old sans a 26-yard passing score to Jalen Coker in the middle of the fourth. Things won’t get any easier on paper in Week 9, as Young and the Panthers face the Broncos.

Jordan Love completed 30-of-41 passes for 288 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in the Packers’ 27-19, Week 8 win over the Panthers.

Love completed 17 of his first 20 passes, and two of those incompletions were drops. He threw a seed to Tucker Kraft for his first touchdown between defenders, found Matthew Golden wide open in the end zone for his second score — one play after Golden dropped a touchdown — and connected with Josh Jacobs for his third score of the day. The interception was a heinous decision where he didn’t see the safety, but outside of that, it was an impressive evening for the 27-year-old. Love gets zero, well, love from the run game and doesn’t have a quality offensive line, but he’s still putting up respectable numbers. He’ll look to add to those numbers in Week 9 against the Patriots in what should be a fun matchup.

Christian Watson (chest) returned to action in Week 8 against the Panthers in the third quarter.

Watson went to the hospital to have his chest injury examined, but obviously checked out well if the Packers were willing to reinsert him into a game where they were leading by two scores. It’s a sigh of relief for fantasy managers, as Watson has been sensational Thursday night with six catches for 100 yards in just one half thus far.
