Just two programs will be in on this one, as the 6-foot-4, 255-pound Taylor has whittled his field all the way down to Miami and Florida. 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins notes that while Florida looks to be the favorite in this race, the Hurricanes have “found some footing in the recruitment ever since the NCAA put a temporary recruiting dead period in place.” Ivins colleague Charles Power comps Taylor’s game loosely to that of former Alabama star -- and current New York Jet -- Quinnen Williams. On the 247Sports composite board, Taylor hits the ground running as the No. 28 overall prospect in the 2021 class.

San Francisco also brought in Alex Bachman and Trenton Irwin. With Christian Kirk and Ricky Pearsall already hurt, the team needs some extra bodies for at least the first week of training camp. Eskridge appeared in 13 games for Miami last year and totaled four catches for 62 yards.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport called the issue a “short-term illness” when Sweat was first placed on the NFI list. It was indeed a short stay for Sweat, and he should be back at practice on Thursday. Sweat’s 10 sacks in 2025 were the second-best mark of his career. He nearly doubled his total from the previous season. He remains one of the biggest contributors on Chicago’s defense heading into his age-30 season.

Harbaugh didn’t say exactly how much either player would participate in the opening practices of camp and even noted that the whole team is starting off in a “ramp-up” stage. Alt suffered a high-ankle sprain last year and ended the season on injured reserve. Slater did not play at all in 2025 because of a ruptured patellar tendon. Though it would make sense for both players to be limited during the first few practices of training camp, it doesn’t sound like any player will have any lingering issues heading into 2026.

Fannin told reporters that he underwent offseason surgery that was related to the groin injury he suffered at the end of his rookie season. It took him “six to 10 weeks” to get fully cleared, causing him to miss the offseason program. As a full participant to start camp, Fannin should not be bothered by the groin issue in his second season. Coming off a 100-target rookie season, he sits in the middle of the TE1 ranks in early drafts.

Rodriguez underwent foot surgery in the offseason and missed all of OTAs and minicamp. He is ready to go for training camp, but the team is taking things slowly and holding him out of team drills for now. The extra reps should give second-year back Bhayshul Tuten a small leg up in terms of Week 1 carries, but this ultimately projects as a two-man committee to start the year.

Clowney inked a one-year deal with the Cowboys last offseason and totaled 8.5 sacks. He has become the league’s preeminent gun for hire on defense, posting at least eight sacks with four different teams. The last time Clowney spent more than one year on a roster was from 2021 to 2022 in Cleveland. After trading Myles Garrett this offseason, the Browns could certainly use some extra firepower at EDGE.

Kraft said all the way back in June that he would likely begin training camp on the PUP list. He added that he may simply need some time to get his conditioning right before taking the field, and his comments from today seem to confirm that. He was on pace to finish as the TE4 before suffering a torn ACL last year. Even if he starts slow in 2026, Kraft appears to be a safe bet for high-end fantasy production this year.

Dell is still working his way back from the catastrophic knee injury that cost him all of the 2025 season. All reports on his health heading into training camp have been positive, but a slow ramp-up period could mean he isn’t playing a full-time role in Week 1. Jayden Higgins appears to be locked in for No. 2 duties in Houston with Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, and an injured Jaylin Noel all vying for the third spot in 11-personnel. Dell is likely the best bet of the three, but it’s more likely than not that there is no clear winner ahead of Houston’s opener.

The Texans placed Noel on the NFI list at the start of camp. He is unable to practice until the team activates him. For a second-year player who struggled to earn playing time as a rookie, this is far from ideal. Tank Dell isn’t fully participating in practice yet, meaning Xavier Hutchinson and Jayden Higgins will see plenty of reps with the first-team offense to start camp.

Melifonwu signed a one-year deal with Miami last offseason and went on to appear in 16 games for the Phins, eight of which were starts. He intercepted one pass and recorded one sack. Melifonwu is a depth option at this point in his career, but he should still see some snaps on defense plus work on special teams with the Bucs.
