NFL Player News

Gilmore missed two games with the hamstring issue but is good to go for Week 16. Harrison Smith, on the other hand, is listed as questionable with a foot issue. He was limited in Friday’s practice after being downgraded to a DNP on Thursday.

We expect to see Hall listed as a full participant on today’s injury report. An update will be provided if that is not the case. Earlier today, Jets OC Frank Reich discussed Hall and Braelon Allen’s expected usage, saying having the two players is “a great problem to have,” referring to the duo as “two No. 1 backs.” That said, Reich added that Hall “is obviously the bell cow,” but the backfield usage will be a “mix” of both players. Jets coach Aaron Glenn will reportedly share his ideal backfield split with Reich, who will work with the position coaches to make it happen. Hall likely belongs in the high-end RB2 tier while Allen remains FLEX-viable.

It appears it’ll be another DNP for Knight as he entered the concussion protocol following Sunday’s win over the Cowboys in Week 8. The 25-year-old tailback seems unlikely to be able to go in Week 9 against the Seahawks, but there should be further updates on Knight’s status soon.

The Bengals No. 1 cornerback is firmly on track to play in Week 9 against the Falcons. While Drake London would get a matchup boost if Turner were to sit out, Turner’s presence does not drop London out of the WR1 tier.

Harbaugh reportedly made comments to this effect earlier in the week. When asked for his thoughts on the matter, OC Mike McDaniel said he is “excited about someone dictating the rotation” and added that Hampton has “had a really great week of prep.” Hampton hasn’t scored double-digit half-PPR points since Week 4. Whether the potential usage increase can get him back to 10.0-plus points remains to be seen, but this week’s comments are at least somewhat encouraging.

Barkley is again on track to play through his injuries on game day. The Eagles’ offensive centerpiece totaled 54 scrimmage yards, one catch and one touchdown in the Eagles’ Week 8 loss to the Commanders. He may have trouble solidifying a spot in the RB1 tier, given the state of the Eagles’ offense, but he remains a high-end RB2 at worst, based on talent and usage.

Scott has not played on offense at all this season, but he has successfully carved out a role on special teams. According to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs, the Bears have reason to believe that Scott’s injured reserve stint “will be on the shorter side.”

Wright is on track to be available for the Dolphins’ Week 9 game against the Lions, although he is mostly functioning as an infrequently used backup rusher while also serving as the team’s top returner. He is a mid-tier bench stash at this time.

The Giants have limited Nabers’ practice reps from time to time this season. Although he may end up being listed as a non-participant, we are not currently concerned about his Week 9 availability. The Giants’ No. 1 wide receiver is fully dressed in his typical practice attire. An update will be provided when more info is released.

Murray reportedly experienced soreness in his hamstring following the Vikings’ Week 8 loss to the Lions. Carson Wentz will start for the Vikings’ Week 9 Monday Night Football game against the Bills, and potentially longer. If Wentz plays well, Murray could be relegated to the backup role. Murray does not necessarily need to be stashed on benches in two-quarterback leagues at this time. This situation is not ideal for him.

On Monday, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters that Kyler Murray is dealing with a “sore hamstring.” After breaking the news that Wentz will start for the Vikings’ Monday Night Football game, Schefter revealed that Murray is considered “week-to-week.” Unless Wentz flops and Murray’s strained hamstring recovers quickly, Wentz is seemingly in line to start for more than one game. If he plays well enough, he could end up starting for the rest of the season. Wentz’s installation upgrades the fantasy prospects for Vikings pass catchers. Wentz warrants QB2 treatment at this time.
