The Bears waived DB Beanie Bishop, LB Ruben Hyppolite II and DB Dontae Manning with injury designations. Homer was fighting for an end-of-bench spot in the Steelers’ running back room. His release indicates they will keep Eli Heidenreich on the initial 53-man roster. Tyson has been dealing with hamstring issues since his senior season at Arizona State. The issue flared up during training camp and he is now expected to be sidelined for roughly two months, as of two weeks ago. With an international game in Week 7 and a bye the following week, a Week 9 return looks like the most likely outcome for the rookie. He could still put up strong fantasy numbers in the second half of the season, but it’s hard to justify holding him in leagues with shallow benches.

Porter Jr. spent all of training camp on the PUP list with a back issue. He was also searching for a new contract without much luck, so it’s safe to assume the back and bank issues were related. Without much leverage in the situation, he is likely stuck playing out the 2026 season on his rookie deal.

Conner will miss at least four games to start the year as he continues to work his way back from the ankle injury that ended his 2025 season. The team can designate him to return after Week 4. With Jeremiyah Love also banged up, Tyler Allgeier could be in for a hefty workload early in the season.

Assuming Jefferson clears waivers, he will revert to the Vikings’ injured reserve list and likely be cut with an injury settlement. It’s a bit surprising after Hunter was acquired in a 1-for-1 swap for Tutu Atwell three days ago, but the Dolphins are undoubtedly hoping he will clear waivers and revert to the practice squad. The move was also a Miami money-saver, so it was not all for naught. McNichols will start the season sidelined with a linger quad injury he suffered in mid-August. Used primarily as a pass-catching back, McNichols could see playing time later this season if Rachaad White or Jacory Croskey-Merritt miss any time. For now he should remain on waivers.
