Lions agreed to terms with S Christian Izien, formerly of the Bucs, on a one-year contract.
Izien started 10 games for the Bucs in 2024. He was credited with just one start in 2025 and his tackle total fell from 75 to 25. He did, however, pick up more work on special teams. Izien will likely continue to play a mix of defense and special teams in Detroit.

Browns hosted free agent FB Michael Burton for a visit today.
Burton, 34, sat out all year after undergoing surgery to repair a hamstring injury he suffered in August 2025. Last we saw him in 2024, Burton was still playing well, earning a 75.8 PFF pass-blocking grade and a 70.3 PFF run-blocking grade.
Is RB Love a lock for top 10 draft pick?
Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter unpack the reports of Jeremiyah Love most likely being selected in the top 10 of the 2026 NFL Draft, questioning if it is worth using an early pick on the Notre Dame star.
  • JAC Wide Receiver #16
DJ Chark retired after eight years in the NFL.
Chark, 29, last stepped foot on an NFL field as a member of the Falcons in two 2025 preseason games. He was released before the regular season began and did not sign with a new team. Chark spent the first four seasons of his career with the Jaguars after they drafted him via a second-round pick in 2018. He produced career highs across the board in 2019, catching 73-of-114 targets for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns, and earned Pro Bowl honors for his efforts. He spent 2022 with the Lions, 2023 with the Panthers and 2024 with the Chargers. Over the course of his career, Chark caught 216-of-393 targets for 3,100 yards and 24 touchdowns.
  • CAR Quarterback #9
Panthers general manager Dan Morgan said the team feels “good” about its quarterback room, but could still draft a rookie quarterback if they “have the opportunity.”
Morgan gave a lengthy reply when fielding a question about trading QB Andy Dalton to the Eagles, highlighting the importance of mobility at the position. Dalton, 38, lacks it. We do not get the sense that the Panthers are searching for a new, immediate starter, but adding “another young guy to the mix” for competition’s sake is on Morgan’s mind. He notes that heading into the draft, the team thinks there are going to be “options” at the quarterback position for them to consider. Head coach Dave Canales has not had the opportunity to develop his own prospect since taking the job. Perhaps he gets a chance to do so this year. Young is currently backed up by QB Kenny Pickett.
  • Panthers LT Rasheed Walker “has been accepted into a pretrial diversion program that will clear a January gun charge from his record.”
Walker’s record will be cleared “if he avoids any additional arrests over the next six months.” Walker was arrested at LaGuardia Airport on January 23rd, 2026, because he reportedly lacked the required credentials to travel with the firearm. Walker evidently did not know he was committing a crime when he presented the firearm for inspection. He is licensed to carry it in the state of Wisconsin, which apparently led to Walker’s confusion.
  • PIT Center #62
    Steelers re-signed C Ryan McCollum.
The backup center gets a one-year deal, which makes sense for all involved. McCollum has spent the last two seasons with the Steelers. He earned a 50.2 PFF offense grade via 153 regular season snaps in 2024 and a 69.0 PFF offense grade via eight snaps in 2025.
  • ATL Safety #21
Falcons acquired S Sydney Brown, a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick from the Eagles in exchange for a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick.
Brown is a hard-hitting safety and special teams player. He suffered a torn ACL in 2023 and returned to action in Week 7, 2024. As a defender last year, he recorded 28 solo tackles and racked up the Eagles’ third-most special teams tackles with 11. Per Schefter, the Eagles get the 114th and 197th overall picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Falcons get Nos. 122 and 215.
  • DET EDGE #98
Lions signed EDGE Payton Turner, formerly of the Cowboys.
Turner entered the NFL as a first-round pick with the Saints in 2021. He totaled just 39 quarterback pressures and five sacks over his first four seasons before signing with the Cowboys via a one-year, $3 million deal last year. Unfortunately, a preseason ribs injury ended Turner’s 2025 season. He will likely operate as a rotational player in Detroit.
  • SEA Wide Receiver
Jaguars signed Seahawks RFA WR Jake Bobo to an offer sheet.
ESPN’s Field Yates reports that the Seahawks now have five days to decide whether to match the offer. The original-round tender would have made Bobo $3.52 million this year, though the money is not guaranteed. We do not know what the Jaguars’ offer is, but obviously, they beat the Seahawks’ numbers. The Florida Times-Union notes that the Seahawks will not receive draft pick compensation if they decline to match the offer sheet.
  • FA Defensive Tackle
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that free agent DT Christian Wilkins (foot) “fully intends to play” in 2026 and has been contacted by 26 NFL teams.
Schefter notes that Wilkins is still rehabbing the foot injury that ended his Raiders tenure. He has not played since Week 4, 2024. Per Schefter, Wilkins is “expected to have a new home as soon as he wants.” He set career highs in 2023, notching 58 quarterback pressures and 10 sacks. Hopefully, the foot injury can be resolved soon.
  • SF OFFENSIVE TACKLE (SUB) #71
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the 49ers will not exercise LT Trent Williams’ $10 million option bonus for 2026.
Williams is scheduled to enter free agency in 2027, and up until now, none of his 2026 salary was guaranteed. Today’s option deadline guarantees Williams $10 million and brings his salary cap number to nearly $47 million. Had the 49ers exercised the option, it would have allowed them to spread the $10 million out over future years. The 49ers still want to reduce his cap hit and Williams reportedly wants more guaranteed money. It is unclear if the 37-year-old left tackle also wants an extension beyond this season. Despite the increased cap hit, Schefter reports that the 49ers are “not overly concerned” about today’s increased cap hit and are planning to rework his contract before the 2026 NFL Draft.
