In his final start via a Minor Medical Extension, Craig Bowden finished with a share of 45th place at the John Deere Classic.
He earned $11,863.64 but needed a paycheck of $634,178, which was only possible with a victory. (Steve Stricker received $810K for the win.) Bowden could have secured conditional status at worst with a solo second, but came up short of that secondary goal by $410,930. Therefore, he has lost his status on the PGA TOUR. As a non-winner, he is limited to seven sponsor exemptions, and will likely play the Nationwide Tour for the remainder of the season. For the time being, he’s listed in the published field of the Viking Classic, but unless he’s in on a sponsor exemption, expect him to be removed at some point on Monday.
