From the late wave and beginning on No. 9 tee, World No. 226 Lee Hodges authored a bogey-free, even-par 34-36=70 in R2 of the RBC Canadian Open to post 4-under 136, currently down three spots to T8, three shy of clubhouse leader Wyndham Clark (70).
The PGA TOUR rookie, making his tourney debut, cards one of only two error-free laps from the late starters on Friday (Austin Cook/64) and did so after scribbling down 18 pars. On nine (of 13) fairways and 13 greens in regulation, he posted 0.711 SG: Off-the-Tee, 1.405 SG: Approach, 0.323 SG: Around, and -0.869 SG: Putting with 32 total putts, lowlighted by a 3-putt par on his first hole, the par-5 ninth (from 60'9"), and highlighted by a 10'9" par-saver at 16. The 26-year-old, who celebrates his birthday in four days (June 14th), is in the top 10 at the midpoint for a second time this season in 22 events, first since the Honda 10 starts ago, where he was T8 before finishing T9 (71-66-71-70), one of two top 10s in 27 career events, joining a T3 at this season’s AmEx back in January as a 54-hole co-leader (62-72-64-70).
