From the early wave and beginning on 10 tee, PGA TOUR rookie and World No. 300 Nick Hardy painted a 6-under 33-31=64 in R2 of the Travelers Championship for a 36-hole tally of 9-under 131, currently up 13 places into a three-way T2.
The 26-year-old, who matched the low round in the clubhouse with four others, arrived off a major-best T14 at last week’s U.S. Open as an alternate, two swings shy of his first top 10 in 27 career events. This week he’s opened with 67-64, joining the clubhouse co-leader party with Patrick Cantlay and defender Harris English, and is making his second start in the event, first since a T61 in 2018 as a non-member, sponsor invite in his maiden event among the paid ranks. At halftime, the Illinois alum has totaled 11 birdies against two bogeys, seven versus one on Friday, and has found 71.43 percent of his fairways (20/28) and 75.00 percent of the greens in regulation (27/36).
