World No. 290 Max McGreevy painted a career-low, 9-under 31-32=63 in the two-day second round of the opposite-field Barbasol for a 36-hole tally of 16-under 128, up three places and into a two-way T1 with Matti Schmid (63).
The PGA TOUR rookie, making his tourney debut, lead/co-leads after any round for the first time in his 23rd career event. After kicking off with a bogey-free 65 on Thursday (7 birdies), he was 5-under thru nine holes (6 birdies, 1 bogey) on Friday when play was suspended due to darkness, and returned Saturday morning to four more circles at 11, 15, 16 (fringe-shot from 33'7") and 17. The Oklahoma alum’s previous low on TOUR was an 8-under 64/R2 at the opposite-field Puerto Rico Open 12 starts ago, which lifted him to T2 and eventually finished a career-best 2nd, his lone top 10 to date. At the halfway pole, he’s totaled 17 birdies, No. 1 in that stat, against one bogey, and ranks 1st SG: Around (4.588), 1st SG: Tee-to-Green (8.001), and 16th SG: Putting (2.926), including a -0.029 SGP in R2.
