With preferred lies in effect, World No. 189 Doug Ghim smoothed a bogey-free 6-under 33-32=65 in the weather-delayed third round of the 3M Open to post 13-under 200, up one place to T3, five short of leader Scott Piercy (66).
The 26-year-old, who’s recorded rounds of 67-68-65, Rounds 1 and 3 error-free, will be in the final threesome on Sunday with Piercy and Emiliano Grillo, scheduled for 11:35 am CT. He owns just two top 10s in 81 events, a T6 at this season’s PLAYERS 13 starts ago, where he was T2, one back thru 54 holes (70-70-68-72), and a career-best T5 at last season’s AmEx, where he was T8 thru 54 holes. At the three-quarter pole this week, the Illinois native has totaled 14 birdies against just one bogey, and ranks 9th SG: Tee-to-Green (6.121) and 2nd SG: Putting (6.516), including a 2.062 TTG in R3 and a 1.511 SGP.
