Panthers signed OG Gabe Jackson to the team’s practice squad.
Jackson, 32, played about 60 percent of the Seahawks offensive snaps in 2022 before the team released him in the offseason. In Carolina, he’ll likely be a rotational lineman. Pro Football Focus grades Carolina’s offensive line as the league’s third worst pass blocking unit.

    Seahawks released OG Gabe Jackson.
Jackson, who turns 32 in July, played 61.6% of the team’s offensive snaps and platooned at times with backup Phil Haynes. It seemed pretty clear from Haynes’ re-signing that Jackson was on the chopping block and several beat reporters discussed the possibility. Jackson has not played particularly well in either of the last two years with Seattle and is likely a stopgap-only option in free agency. The move saves $6.5 million on Seattle’s 2023 cap.

The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar believes Seahawks OG Gabe Jackson and DT Shelby Harris could be cap casualties this offseason.
As Dugar points out in his article, the Seahawks are already in pretty good shape as far as cap space is concerned, but it could always be better. Jackson and Harris are set to earn $11.2 million and $12.2 million next season but could be cut for a savings of $15.4 million. Jackson dealt with a knee issue last season that limited him to 61.6 percent of the team’s offensive snaps, while Harris, who will be 32 at the start of next season, started 15 games but managed just two sacks. As the team draws closer to a new deal for Geno Smith, it’s possible both Jackson and Harris could be on the outs as the team looks to free up cap space for younger talent.

  • Guard #69
Seahawks declared OG Gabe Jackson, WR Penny Hart, DT Al Woods, CB Artie Burns, and S Teez Tabor inactive for Week 6 against the Cardinals.
Jackson was listed as doubtful, so his absence isn’t much of a surprise. Phil Haynes will take his place in the lineup.

  • Guard #69
Seahawks RG Gabe Jackson (hip) is doubtful for Week 6 against Arizona.
Jackson left Week 5’s game with the injury. Phil Haynes will probably start for the Seahawks in the likely event that Jackson can’t suit up on Sunday.

  • Guard #69
Seahawks RG Gabe Jackson (hip) did not practice Thursday.
Jackson was forced from Week 5 because of a hip injury and has yet to practice this week. Phil Haynes was already getting some snaps at right guard against the Saints and will likely get the start if Jackson can’t play.

  • Guard #69
Seahawks signed OG Gabe Jackson to a three-year, $22.575 million contract.
The deal includes $7.075 million in “additional guarantees.” Jackson apparently tore up the final two years remaining on his deal and started over fresh. Heading into his age-30 campaign, Jackson remains one of the league’s better guards, though his play has fallen off a bit over the past two years. He is still a huge addition for the Seahawks’ perennially-undermanned offensive line.

  • Guard #69
Seahawks acquired RG Gabe Jackson from the Raiders in exchange for a 2021 fifth-round pick.
The Raiders were expected to release Jackson, but like C Rodney Hudson earlier, Vegas was able to instead swing Jackson for a draft pick after Hudson was dealt to Arizona for a third-rounder. Jackson turns 30 this summer and was Pro Football Focus’ No. 40 guard last season. He was once one of the best guards in football. In Seattle, Jackson should slide right in next to RT Brandon Shell, though the Seahawks still have 2020 third-round OG Damien Lewis. One of them can move to the left side after Mike Iupati retired.

  • Guard #69
    Raiders released RG Gabe Jackson.
The move clears $9.6 million in cap space and leaves behind no dead money. One of the very best guards in his heyday, Jackson is closing in on his 30th birthday (in July) and was Pro Football Focus’ No. 40 guard out of 80 qualifiers last season, receiving strong marks for his pass protection across 16 starts. Jackson should have a few more solid years left in him and will likely receive strong interest on the open market.

  • LV Tackle #74
Raiders LT Kolton Miller (ankle) is doubtful and RG Gabe Jackson (illness) is questionable for Week 10 against the Broncos.
A top-five unit when healthy, the Raiders have question marks across the offensive line ahead of a divisional matchup with Denver. The Vegas offense ranks No. 7 in both passing and rushing EPA per play despite a recent rotation across multiple spots on the line, but this is as bad as it’s been. RT Trent Brown and LG Richie Incognito are also out. Jackson being unable to play through his illness would push four backups into the starting lineup.
