Playing out of Hoakalei Country Club, 58 players attempted to grab four spots up for grabs on Monday. None were better than Doucett as he carded a round of 9-under 63. Bookending his round with pars on Nos. 1 through 3 and Nos. 14 through 18, the middle of the round is where the California native made his mark. Making birdie on nine of 10 holes from Nos. 4 through 13, Doucett quickly separated himself from the pack. When discussing his round with the PGA Tour, Doucett said, “Yeah, today went really well. It went as planned. I hadn’t had been hitting the ball as well as I wanted to the last few days, but I figured a few things out today and I am really ecstatic to play at the Sony Open this week.” This will be Doucett’s second career start on the PGA Tour as he missed the cut in his first start at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open.
