The 42-year-old hasn’t made the cut in consecutive events this season, making just four cuts in 11 appearances. His best showing was a 31st-place finish at the RBC Canadian Open in early June. He just hasn’t fared very well in any facet of the game, especially in Driving Accuracy Percentage. He ranks 196th in that category, hitting just 266 of his 503 possible fairways, while ranking a dismal 198th in Scoring Average (72.592). His work on the greens is a disaster, too, as he checks in 192nd in Putts Per Round (29.83).
  • The 44-year-old first-timer made his TOUR debut at the 2014 U.S. Open after graduating from Kansas in 1999. He’s played in five career events, three this season, and has made two cuts: a T64 at the 2014 Byron Nelson and a career-best T45 at the opposite-field Sanderson Farms eight weeks ago. Thompson began 41st on the Web.com priority list and is now 38th after the first reshuffle post-RSM Classic. He’s made 100 career starts on the Web, including full seasons in 2007, 2008 and 2018, and posted two podiums, both 3rd-place finishes last season. The Kansas native and resident secured his promotion with a run of 3-T4-T3 in consecutive weeks.
