Bowditch provided a statement via Twitter saying, “I spent much of the last two years dealing with lower back pain, leg numbness, sciatic pain, loss of control of my side and tingling in my toes.” He’d go on to explain the length diagnosis process and declare he has Pars defect and Spondylolysis which requires surgical fusion of the L5, S1. The two-time winner is hoping to finally be able to play pain-free. Bowditch will play out of the Past Champions category upon return which will limit his available opportunities.

Prior to that, his birdies included conversions of 24'11", 14'9" and 14'6" at the 13th, 17th and second holes, respectively. Naturally, he bogeyed the only hole where he missed the green in regulation -- the par-3 11th. Today’s 64 is his lowest score in 36 stroke-play rounds this season. He was the last to finish the second round inside the top 10 on the leaderboard.
