Singer

Singer was called up by the Phillies back in mid-April, but didn’t end up getting into a big-league contest before being designated for assignment. The 28-year-old lefty has struggled to a 7.04 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 29/20 K/BB ratio across 30 2/3 innings (25 appearances, one start) this season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Singer was called up for just one game, and didn’t end up making an appearance, earlier this week in place of Corey Knebel. The 28-year-old lefty, who passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment, will continue to serve as organizational relief depth moving forward.

This move clears space for Corey Knebel’s return from the COVID-19 IL. Singer was only up for one game and did not make an appearance. He had thrown four scoreless innings to begin the year at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

An incredible story. Singer was out of baseball and working at a Philadelphia car dealership back in 2015. Seven years later, he’s made it to the big leagues. The 28-year-old lefty will help bolster the Phillies’ bullpen depth moving forward.
