Buccaneers signed Miami K Jose Borregales.
Borregales (5’10/206) originally enrolled at Florida International and showed out well, making 83 percent of his field goals and all of his extra points as a freshman. He extended his range in 2018 with a long field goal of 53-yards while going 14-of-18 and being named a Lou Groza Award finalist. He boomed three kicks of over 50-yards as a junior while improving his kickoff numbers by recording 33 touchbacks on 56 opportunities. The Miami native then transferred to his hometown university where he won the Groza Award and received first-team AP All-American accolades. He continued to show improvement on kickoffs (51 touchbacks on 72 kicks) while converting 91 percent of his field goal chances. Unfortunately, the “Aurora” Borregales is unlikely to make the Bucs’ final roster as Ryan Succop signed a three-year extension with the team in March.
