Carlton Smith pitched the first seven innings in a combined no-hitter for low Single-A Lake County on Sunday.
Austin Creps and Luis Perdomo finished up the game against Delmarva. Smith, the younger brother of former Indians’ first-round pick Corey Smith, is 5-5 with a 5.23 ERA, 82 H and 42/23 K/BB in 75 2/3 innings in the Sally League. He throws a sinker, but since he doesn’t get enough grounders with it, he’s not much of a prospect.

Cubs acquired RHP Carlton Smith and OF Abner Abreu from the Indians for OF Kosuke Fukudome and cash considerations.
Smith, 25, has a 4.50 ERA and 46/20 K/BB ratio over 46 innings with Triple-A Columbus this season. He was moved to the bullpen in 2009 and has a decent chance to make it as a middle reliever in the big leagues.
