Athletics optioned RHPs Joey Estes and Royber Salinas, LHP Brady Basso, INF Jordan Diaz and OF Lazaro Armenteros to Triple-A Las Vegas; re-assigned LHPs Jack O’Loughlin and Francisco Perez, INF Brett Harris, C Yohel Pozo and RHPs Gerson Moreno, Vinny Nittoli and Gerardo Reyes to minor league camp.
It’s a large batch of cuts, and there’s definitely some talent mixed in there, but no one who was truly expected to crack the team’s Opening Day roster. Jordan Diaz saw significant time with the A’s during the 2023 season and he’ll surely get another chance at some point in 2024. Estes is somewhat surprising, as he was absolutely dealing in Cactus League play — posting a 1.29 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and an 8/1 K/BB ratio across seven innings in his three outings.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #65
Athletics re-signed LHP Francisco Pérez to a minor league contract.
Pérez is back in the fold with the Athletics as extra organizational relief depth just a few days after electing free agency. The 26-year-old lefty made 17 relief appearances last year for Oakland, finishing with a bloated 5.94 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 14/8 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #65
Athletics LHP Francisco Pérez has elected free agency.
Pérez has opted to test the open market rather than accept an outright minor league assignment from the Athletics following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster last week. The 26-year-old lefty made 17 relief appearances last year in the big leagues, finishing with an inflated 5.94 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 14/8 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings of work.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #65
Athletics sent LHP Francisco Pérez outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 26-year-old Perez made 17 appearances for the A’s last season, finishing with a 5.94 ERA in 16 2/3 innings. He’ll have the right to become a free agent, but he might be better off staying put and taking his chances with the A’s as a non-roster invitee.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #65
Athletics selected the contract of LHP Francisco Pérez from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Pérez receives the call to the majors for Saturday’s showdown against the Nationals after posting a 4.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 53/20 K/BB ratio across 40 2/3 innings (30 appearances) this season in Oakland’s minor league system. The 26-year-old lefty made 10 relief appearances last year for Washington.
  • Relief Pitcher #60
Athletics signed LHP Francisco Perez to a minor league contract.
The 25-year-old hurler spent the spring in Nationals’ camp before getting released at the end of March. He holds a 5.87 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and a 12/12 K/BB ratio over 15 1/3 innings at the big league level over the past two seasons. He’ll add bullpen depth for the Athletics.

  • Relief Pitcher #60
    Nationals released LHP Francisco Pérez.
Pérez re-signed with the Nationals back in January and will head back out to test the free agent waters. The 25-year-old southpaw has made 14 relief appearances in the majors over the last two years.

  • Starting Pitcher #59
Nationals reassigned LHP’s Evan Lee, Francisco Perez and Alberto Baldonado, RHP Tommy Romero, INF’s Lucius Fox, Erick Mejia and OF’s Yasel Antuna and Donovan Casey to minor league camp.
The Nationals first round of cuts from spring training includes several depth relievers, and a useful utility infielder in Lucius Fox, but no major surprises.

  • Relief Pitcher #60
Nationals re-signed LHP Francisco Pérez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Pérez was hammered for seven earned runs on 13 hits and nine walks over just 8 2/3 innings of relief last season with the Nats. He returns as organizational bullpen depth for the 2023 campaign.

  • Relief Pitcher #60
Nationals sent LHP Francisco Pérez outright to Triple-A Rochester.
Pérez, 25, appeared in 10 games for the Nationals last season, giving up seven runs and walking nine in 8 2/3 innings. If he ever gets the walks down, he could prove useful in relief with his plus slider. He’s set to become a minor league free agent.
