Cardinals selected RHP Griffin Roberts out of Wake Forest with the 43rd pick of the 2018 MLB Draft.
Roberts has one of the best sliders in the draft, and it’s an out-pitch right now. He also has a fastball that gets into the mid 90s, and occasionally he’ll show a change that’s below-average. Most view him as a reliever -- he could be a future closer -- but St. Louis might give him a chance to start knowing he can move to the bullpen someday.

Cardinals pitching prospect Griffin Roberts has been suspended 50 games for a second positive test for a drug of abuse.
Roberts was viewed as one of the most major league-ready relievers when he was selected with a competitive balance round pick in the 2018 Draft. He might have even had a shot to debut at some point during the 2019 campaign, but that surely won’t happen now.
