Harvey Garcia is expected to be activated in time for Wednesday’s game against the Braves.
Garcia, who has a 97 mph fastball, had just a 6.23 ERA in six outings since being brought up to Triple-A Albuquerque a few weeks ago. He is an okay relief prospect, but he is only expected to remain with the Marlins a few days. Rick Vanden Hurk will be optioned to the minors to create room on the roster for Garcia.

Marlins recalled RHP Harvey Garcia from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Garcia, a product of the Josh Beckett deal with the Red Sox, had a 5.47 ERA in 60 relief appearances between Double- and Triple-A. He throws in the mid-90s with ease, and there’s a chance he could be a closer someday. However, there’s little reason to think he’s ready to help now.

Marlins transferred RHP Harvey Garcia from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list
The move clears a 40-man roster spot for Burke Badenhop. Garcia is out with shoulder tendinitis.

Garcia, who made his major league debut last September, will be optioned to Triple-A once he’s recovered.

    Marlins released RHP Harvey Garcia.
One day after losing Jesus Delgado on waivers, the Marlins are letting go of the fourth piece of the Josh Beckett-Mike Lowell deal, leaving them only Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez to show for it. Garcia missed all of last season following rotator-cuff surgery and had been unable to make a strong return this spring. Perhaps he’ll be re-signed to a minor league contract.
