Melian

Melian was decent enough while in the Yankees system this season, but after being traded to the Braves in late June, he hit just .193 in 52 games for Double-A Greenville. About the only thing he has working in his favor at this point is that he’s still just 24 years old.

All three players will be regulars for Iowa. Melian is ahead of Jackson on the depth chart right now and could be called up if Moises Alou or another outfielder goes down with an injury.

The Braves needed some outfield depth after calling up Charlie Thomas and releasing Cory Aldridge. Melian won’t make it to the majors with the team.

Melian was batting .278/.347/.454 for Trenton. The 24-year-old was viewed as one of the Yankees’ top prospects when he was traded to Cincinnati four years ago, but he’s turned into a journeyman minor leaguer.
