''I’ve just got to get the arm strength going and get command of three pitches with about 4-5 more mph. I’m right where I need to be,’' Rocker said.

Tampa GM Chuck LaMar is likely to have further talks today with John Rocker’s agent about a deal that would send Rocker to Triple-A Durham then pay him the $300,000 minimum salary should he join the Rays.

Rocker reached 90 mph in a throwing session yesterday. Even if he doesn’t close, he should be able to help the Tampa bullpen if he can steer clear of controversy.
