Padres’ minor league infielder Jonathan Galvez was flagged for a random DNA test in his native Dominican Republic.
Galvez passed and is currently awaiting a travel visa. The Padres expect him to arrive in camp in the middle of next week. The 21-year-old middle infielder batted .291/.335/.465 with 13 homers, 86 RBI, 37 stolen bases and an .820 OPS over 128 games with High-A Lake Elsinore last season.

Padres reassigned INF Jonathan Galvez to minor league camp.
Galvez impressed this spring, batting .371 (13-for-35) with one homer, four RBI, two stolen bases and a .932 OPS. The 21-year-old middle infielder sprained his ankle on Thursday, but the severity of the injury isn’t yet known.

Jonathan Galvez will miss the next week of action due to a strained groin.
The non-roster invite suffered the injury on Thursday. Galvez, 23, has little chance of cracking the Opening Day roster. He batted .278/.342/.385 with six homers and 22 steals at Triple-A last season.

Jonathan Galvez went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI on Saturday as the Padres and Indians played to a 4-4 tie in Cactus League action.
The 23-year-old worked at third base in this one, and could be a longshot to crack the Opening Day roster if Chase Headley suffers any type of setback in his recovery.
  • NYM 2nd Baseman
Mets signed INF Jonathan Galvez to a minor league contract.
Galvez had been released by the Yankees after hitting .237/.323/.302 with no homers in 40 Triple-A games. He’s merely organizational depth.
  • NYM 2nd Baseman
Yankees signed INF Jonathan Galvez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 23-year-old third baseman had another solid season at Triple-A El Paso in 2014, slashing .280/.354/.449 with 10 homers and 52 RBI in 103 games. With the Yankees uncertainty surrounding the third base position, this represents a nice depth signing.
