Rays acquired RHP Marcus Johnson and RHP Santiago Suárez from the Marlins for IF Xavier Edwards and RHP JT Chargois.
The 21-year-old hurler was a fourth round pick by the Marlins from the 2022 draft. He split the 2022 campaign between the Marlins rookie league club and Low-A Jupiter where he registered a 5.94 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 29/11 K/BB ratio over 16 2/3 innings. He’s still likely several years away from helping out the Rays at the big league level.
