I don’t want to pick on Brooks Conrad too much, since he’s already destined to be best known for a bunch of ugly defensive miscues for the Braves in 2010, but while watching him fly out as a pinch-hitter last night I noticed that he’s now 0-for-23 for the Brewers.
That’s somewhat noteworthy in itself, but here’s the thing that caught my attention: Prior to returning to the majors Conrad played 21 games at Triple-A and hit .405 with 10 homers, five doubles, 11 walks, and a 1.388 OPS.
Obviously the fact that MLB pitching is a whole lot tougher to hit than Pacific Coast League pitching isn’t shocking, but going 30-for-74 with 10 homers at Triple-A and then going 0-for-23 with 10 strikeouts in the big leagues is pretty amazing.
It might be time to update his already lengthy Wikipedia page.
