The Chicago Cubs have hired Tommy Hottovy as their new pitching coach.
Hottovy, 37, pitched 17 games for the Red Sox and Royals a few years back. He most recently served as an advanced scout and director of run prevention -- which is a thing, apparently -- for the Cubs for the past last three seasons. He’ll replace Jim Hickey, who stepped down as the Cubs’ pitching coach after one season due to personal reasons.
