Dave Magadan decides to stay with Rangers
Dave Magadan surfaced as a candidate for hitting coach vacancies with the Yankees, Athletics, Red Sox, and Mets, but Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that he has decided to remain with the Rangers.
Magadan has been the Rangers hitting coach for the past two seasons. Despite having one year remaining on his contract, he was allowed to seek an employment elsewhere after the recent changes at manager. He was eliminated from consideration by the Yankees earlier this week and apparently decided to stay after reportedly meeting with Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and new manager Jeff Banister on Wednesday night.
The Rangers finished 10th in the American League in runs scored this past season, but they should see a nice jump in offense if they simply see improved health next year.
