The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired righty reliever Brad Boxberger from the Tampa Bay Ray for minor league righty Curtis Taylor.

Boxberger, 29, had a fine year as far as rate stats go, posting a 3.38 ERA (123 ERA+) with a 40/11 K/BB ratio in 29.1 innings this past year with Tampa Bay. He missed roughly half the season though, with various minor injuries. He is also arbitration-eligible and is likely due to a raise over his $1.6 million salary for next season. While that’s not a lot, it’s a lot for the Rays, so this trade is best viewed as a financial move more than a baseball move.

In return, the Rays get Taylor, who started 13 games in A-ball this past season, positing a 3.32 ERA and a K/BB ratio 63/28 in 62.1 innings. He was a fourth round pick of the Dbacks in the 2016 draft.
