Edwin Rodriguez to remain Marlins manager for rest of season

Well, this is pretty anticlimactic.

Sources tell Buster Olney of ESPN.com that after all the speculation, Edwin Rodriguez will remain the Marlins manager for the rest of the 2010 season.

Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports that Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria informed the team of the organization’s decision before Tuesday’s game against the Mets.

According to Olney, the team will resume the hiring process after the season. As Craig suggested earlier this afternoon, this decision suggests that the organization was not in complete agreement that Bobby Valentine, who was considered a shoe-in for the job as recently as this weekend, should be the team’s next manager.

Rodriguez, who was managing with Triple-A New Orleans at the time of Fredi Gonzalez’s firing, is 2-4 over his first six games as Marlins’ skipper.
