Tigers rookie Michael Fulmer tossed six more scoreless innings on Sunday, helping defeat the Yankees 4-1. It extends the right-hander’s scoreless innings streak to 28 1/3 innings, one out shy of tying the Tigers franchise record. Orel Hershiser, of course, owns the all-time record at 59 innings.

Fulmer last yielded a run in the sixth inning on May 21 against the Rays. He then faced the Athletics, Angels, and Blue Jays without giving up a run prior to Sunday’s start.

Following his win Sunday, Fulmer is 7-1 with a 2.52 ERA and a 52/19 K/BB ratio over 53 2/3 innings.

The Tigers acquired Fulmer along with Luis Cessa from the Mets last season in the Yoenis Cespedes trade.
