Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts has had a good couple of days. The 23-year-old launched a trio of home runs -- coincidentally enough, one each to left, center, and right field -- against the Orioles on Tuesday, finishing 3-for-5.
Betts stayed hot on Wednesday, hitting solo home runs in each of his first two at-bats against Orioles starter Mike Wright. He led off the first inning with a blast to right-center. In the second, shortly after Chris Young hit a two-run shot, Betts smacked a solo shot to left-center to tie the game at 4-4.
For those of you counting at home, Betts’ last seven at-bats: homer, homer, line out, homer, ground out, homer, homer. Betts now has 14 home runs on June 1. He hit 18 dingers in 145 games last year.
There are still seven innings left to play as of this writing.
