The Nationals have placed outfielder Ben Revere on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique, the club announced on Twitter. Matt den Dekker has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse to take his spot on the roster.

Revere suffered the injury in the fourth inning of the Nationals’ Opening Day game against the Braves. Michael Taylor replaced Revere after he was taken out of the game and should be expected to get the starts going forward.

According to Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post, manager Dusty Baker plans to bat Taylor leadoff even though he doesn’t see the 25-year-old as a leadoff hitter long-term. Baker prefers to leave the other hitters where they are as they’re getting used to those particular spots in the batting order.
