The Tim Tebow experiment is quickly turning into the Tim Tebow experience. The guy is absolutely on fire of late and, last night his baseball legend, such as it is, grew larger.
Tebow hit a solo walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give his Class-A St. Lucie Mets a dramatic comeback victory over the Daytona Tortugas. (this was part of a doubleheader, so the game was only seven innings long per minor league rules). Watch:

The homer gave Tebow an 11-game hitting streak. He’s now batting .327 with three homers and 10 RBI in 16 games since being promoted to the Florida State League.
When this all started, everyone -- myself included -- assumed that Tebow would be overmatched in the minors. He’s had his ups and downs, of course, and his age likely still precludes him from being a legitimate prospect, but he has not been overmatched.
Most experts say that the biggest test of any minor leaguer is making the jump from A-ball to Double-A. It’ll be interesting to see if the Mets give Tebow that chance with a callup to Binghamton in the near future. Heck, it’ll be interesting to see if, given his performance and given the Mets’ disappointing season, he gets called up to New York when rosters expand in September.
