WAPT’s Mike Perchick reports that the Yankees and pitcher Michael Pineda avoided arbitration, agreeing on a one-year deal for 2015 worth $2.1 million.

Pineda, 26 on Sunday, is a “Super Two” player entering his first of four years of arbitration eligibility. The right-hander posted a sterling 1.89 ERA with a 59/7 K/BB ratio in 76 1/3 innings across 13 starts last season. He missed a great deal of time after straining his teres major muscle during a simulated game while Pineda was serving a ten-game suspension for having been caught with pine tar on his neck.
