Yankees getting healthy: Jacoby Ellsbury and Andrew Miller due back Wednesday

Andrew Miller Yankees

Two key players are ready to rejoin the Yankees after missing extended time with injuries, as manager Joe Girardi announced that center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury and left-hander Andrew Miller are expected to come off the disabled list Wednesday.

Ellsbury has been on the DL since mid-May with a sprained right knee and his return was delayed a few days by leg fatigue while on a minor-league rehab assignment. He was hitting .324 with 14 steals in 37 games at the time of the injury and will resume leading off for the Yankees.

Miller has missed a month with a forearm injury, but Girardi indicated that he’ll step right back into the closer role after posting a 1.03 ERA and 43/10 K/BB ratio in 26 innings before being shut down. Dellin Betances will resume setup duties and the Yankees once again have MLB’s best one-two punch in the bullpen.
