Operating as a bulk reliever, Zac Lowther allowed six runs -- five earned -- over 5 1/3 innings Tuesday versus the Mariners.
Bryan Baker served as the opener and coughed up three runs in 1 1/3 innings. He then turned things over to Lowther, who wound up throwing 100 pitches in relief. Lowther, of course, is used to starting, though he hadn’t even reached 90 pitches yet in the minors this year. He’s probably headed back to Triple-A Norfolk.
