Cole Custer earns pole for Martinsville Truck race

Cole Custer hasn’t been in a truck since September, but he knocked any rust off Saturday by earning the pole for the Camping World Truck Series’ Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway.

Custer, driving the No. 00 for JR Motorsports, put up a speed of 96.959 mph around the short track.

It is Custer’s third career pole in the truck series.

Filling out the top five is Cameron Hayley (96.504), John Hunter Nemechek (96.224), Tyler Reddick (96.141) and Daniel Hemric (96.024).

Erik Jones starts eighth.

The Kroger 200 starts at 1:30 pm ET on Fox Sports 1.

Championship contender Matt Crafton failed to advance to the third and final round and will start 13th.
