According to a source, the Grizzlies have signed 6-foot-9, 245-pound free agent power forward Andre Brown to add depth to their front line.
Brown, 26, who made his NBA debut last season in Seattle, is an athletic, explosive leaper, but won’t make much noise in the fantasy world this season. With the addition of another frontcourt player, the Grizzlies will now look at finding a two-guard/small forward who can provide outside shooting. They have expressed an interest in Portland’s Ime Udoka and Golden State’s Matt Barnes.
  • MIA Power Forward
    Grizzlies signed forward Andre Brown.
Brown averaged 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 38 games with the Sonics last season. The Depaul product should have a spot on the Grizzlies’ roster to begin the season, but he probably won’t be in the regular rotation.
  • MIA Power Forward
The Grizzlies placed Andre Brown on the inactive list recently, as he continues to suffer from an upper respiratory infection.
Brown joined Brian Cardinal on the inactive list, and neither guy will have fantasy interest this season.
  • MEM Small Forward
The Grizzlies renounced the rights to free agents Casey Jacobsen and Andre Brown on Saturday.
The Grizzlies gained even more salary cap room by renouncing both seldom-used players. They can re-sign either player, or engineer a sign-and-trade with another team. Neither guy should have fantasy value next season, regardless of where they land.
  • MIA Power Forward
Grizzlies center Andre Brown got his first career start on Saturday, and he cashed in with career-highs of 13 points and 18 rebounds in a loss to the Timberwolves.
Yes Andre Brown, not Kwame. He shot poorly, going 5-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from the line, but does it really matter after he grabbed nine offensive rebounds? Darko Milicic got a DNP and Kwame Brown played 14 minutes off the bench, so Andre might actually be a good short-term pickup.
  • PHI Guard #7
Kyle Lowry had 22 points, three 3-pointers and hit 8-of-21 shots as the Grizzlies fell to the Nuggets.
Andre Brown came off the bench for 19 points and 13 boards, as six Grizzlies hit double figures. Brown was a nice late pickup for many owners, despite not getting enough touches in his last game. This could have been Marc Iavaroni’s last game as coach, and we should know his fate in the near future.
  • BOS Center #99
Darko Milicic missed Saturday’s loss to Minnesota due to an undisclosed injury.
The Memphis Commercial Appeal simply states that an injury prevented him from playing, and the box scores provided no additional information. If he can’t go on Tuesday and Wednesday, sub center Andre Brown is a great pickup for rebounds.
  • BKN Center #98
Jason Collins started at center for the Grizzlies on Tuesday.
Tough break if you picked up Andre Brown this week. Brown could still see substantial minutes off the bench, so don’t write him off just yet.
  • MIA Power Forward
Andre Brown came off the bench on Tuesday and had just four rebounds in 20 minutes.
The good news is that he hit all six of his shots for 16 points, a steal and a block, but hit just 4-of-9 free throws. We’re surprised Jason Collins (seven points, one rebound) got the start tonight, but at least Brown played fairly well. Hopefully he’s back in the starting lineup on Wednesday.
  • MIA Power Forward
The Charlotte Bobcats have added forwards Marcus Williams and Andre Brown and guard Donell Taylor to their training-camp roster.
All three players have an outside shot at making the final roster after playing in the NBA last season. Brown may have the most upside, and even flirted with having fantasy value at times with Memphis.
