Lawal wasn’t expected to make the team, and the Spurs made it official on Thursday.

Lawal was recently waived by the Spurs and never had a shot at fantasy value.

Lawal’s contract was unguaranteed, and this was an easy decision given the Suns’ depth at PF -- Channing Frye, Hakim Warrick and rookie Markieff Morris. He played two minutes in his entire Suns career.

Lawal has exactly two minutes of NBA experience, after making a one-game cameo with the Suns in 2010-11.

The Knicks will reportedly work him out after he finishes his season abroad in the Italian league with Virtus Roma. Lawal tore his ACL back in 2011, and he’s been fighting to return to the NBA since. Now 24 years old, Lawal has three workouts confirmed: Orlando, Indiana and Toronto. Lawal is averaging 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in Europe.

If Lawal could crack any NBA roster it would be the Sixers, and we’ll watch to see if this is in any way related to Royce White not flying to Europe. Chances are this is your everyday camp signing.

Lawal’s stock had been on the rise, and he was almost guaranteed to be selected in the first round, but this is great news for the Yellow Jackets. Lawal now looks like a lock to be a lottery pick, and possibly a Top 5 selection, a year from now.

The interesting bit is that the Sixers are now at 14 on their roster. Plus, if they buyout Kwame Brown, they’re going to have two open spots. There are a lot of free agents out there that could be better than the guys on the Sixers, so deep-league owners will want to keep their eyes peeled.
