Danny Green started at shooting guard again and scored 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, two assists, and three steals in 38 minutes on Thursday.
Green has two straight solid outings under his belt, but as we’ve seen all year the shooting guard position is subject to change. Owners making an add, even in deep league scenarios, are doing so at their own risk. Gary Neal played 17 minutes and hit just 1-of-7 shots for three points, three rebounds, and four assists, and Kawhi Leonard played just two minutes in the Spurs’ blowout win.
  • ATL Shooting Guard #14
Gary Neal hit 9-of-15 shots and two 3-pointers on his way to 21 points, three assists and a steal in Wednesday’s loss.
Neal didn’t miss a game with the injury and has hit double digits in scoring in four of his last five games. Until Manu Ginobili returns from his oblique injury, Neal is a decent option in deep leagues, despite some inconsistency.
  • LAC Forward #2
As expected, Kawhi Leonard (calf) did not practice on Wednesday.
Leonard has already been ruled out of Wednesday’s game against the Bulls so the fact he didn’t go through practice shouldn’t be surprising. With Gary Neal (hamstring) questionable, Danny Green should be in line for a lot of minutes.
  • POR Coaching Staff #47
Tiago Splitter (calf) and Gary Neal (hamstring) both participated in “light” practice on Wednesday.
Splitter was not wearing a protective brace around his calf and appears close to a return. He should be considered questionable to play on Wednesday, but owners will have to wait on an update on his status closer to tipoff. Neal is also iffy to play with his hamstring injury.
  • LAC Point Guard #88
Patty Mills’ contract with the Spurs has a player option for the 2012-13 season.
If Mills exercises the option, he’ll have a fully guaranteed base salary of just under $900,000 for the season. He has no fantasy value as long as Tony Parker and Gary Neal are both healthy.
  • LAC Forward #2
Kawhi Leonard had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in 27 minutes in another start on Wednesday.
Gregg Popovich once again played 12 guys and Leonard was the minutes leader with just 27 of them. Boris Diaw started for Tim Duncan and had eight points, five boards and two 3-pointers in 24 minutes, and Gary Neal hit 8-of-9 shots for 17 points in just 15 minutes of action. There’s fantasy value to be had with the Spurs, but you’re probably better off playing the lottery than trying to figure out where it will come from night-to-night. Despite appearing not to really even be trying, the Spurs won again and remain a 1/2 game up on OKC for the best record in the West.
  • ATL Shooting Guard #14
Gary Neal (shoulder stinger) will be available for Game 1 vs. the Jazz.
The Spurs have so many weapons that Neal almost goes unnoticed, but he’s been rock-solid when called upon and is a career 42 percent shooter from downtown. The Spurs have homecourt advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs, which they begin with zero players on the injury report -- Gregg Popovich may have allowed himself a smirk.
  • ATL Shooting Guard #14
Gary Neal returned from a shoulder stinger in Game 1 on Sunday, playing 12 minutes off the bench.
The Spurs are using Neal as Tony Parker’s primary backup PG, though Patty Mills is also more than capable of taking over in a pinch. It’s luxurious depth which is even more impressive for a team that lost T.J. Ford during the season.
  • ATL Shooting Guard #14
Gary Neal is expected to return from his hamstring injury on Wednesday, while Tiago Splitter also sounds likely to return from a calf injury.
Neither player is a great fantasy option just coming off injuries, but both are worth watching closely in deeper leagues.
  • LAC Forward #2
Kawhi Leonard (calf) is “probably out” for Friday’s game against the Bobcats.
Leonard has been dealing with the calf ailment since before the All-Star break and still isn’t quite right just yet. Gary Neal and Danny Green should continue to pick up minutes without Leonard in the rotation.
