He played well in the summer league and may have a small chance of making the Bobcats final roster. He’s the brother of Minnesota Viking receiver Nate Burleson. Nate made a name for himself with the Vikes last year and is a highly regarded fantasy receiver today, so Kevin is hoping to take the same road in hoops.

“Painful!” Kevin said, adding it got so bad “I was just happy when they got a first down.” It didn’t help that he was sitting at the top of the stadium: “Section 521 -- the very top! It was slow death up there.” Nate couldn’t hook his brother up with a better seat?

Nate Burleson’s brother went 4-for-5 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from deep. He remains near the bottom of the depth chart at the guard though.

The rookie backup point guard had gone without a field goal in 18 straight contests, dating back to Jan. 13. Ouch. With Brevin Knight and Raymond Felton on the roster, Burleson will continue being stuck on the pine.

He missed all six of his shots and had just two assists. It sounds like Knight and Felton won’t miss much time.

That leads us to believe Raymond Felton won’t play through his toe injury, although it is possible he could still come off the bench.

The 6-3 Burleson played in 39 games last season as a backup to Brevin Knight and Raymond Felton. He averaged 1.8 points and 1.2 assists, so he doesn’t figure to have fantasy value again this season.

Coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff says he still intends to re-sign Burleson, the team’s third-string point guard.

Waiving Nate’s brother got their roster down to the league maximum of 15 players and means Brevin Knight and Raymond Felton are the only two point guards currently on the roster.
