Malcolm Brogdon (foot) is out for Friday’s game against the Cavaliers.
Brogdon has been ruled out for right foot injury management. With the Wizards focused on rebuilding, veterans like Brogdon should spend more time on the sideline for the rest of the season. Kyshawn George and Bub Carrington will play more, increasing the fantasy values of both rookies.
  • WAS Power Forward #33
Kyle Kuzma (right groin) is off the injury report ahead of Monday’s matchup with the Rockets, while Bub Carrington (right knee) and Richaun Holmes (illness) are questionable.
Kuz will return from an extended absence and likely reclaim his starting job from Kyshawn George. Carrington’s late addition to the injury report means he should be a GTD for this one, and Holmes’ availability won’t have much of an impact in the world of fantasy hoops.
  • WAS Power Forward #33
Kyle Kuzma (right groin strain) has been ruled out for the Wizards’ Friday game against the Grizzlies.
Kuzma is set to miss his fourth consecutive contest and there’s no time table for his return. The Wizards have inserted Kyshawn George into the starting lineup in a corresponding move and the rookie has thrived in a larger role.
  • WAS Small Forward
Kyshawn George posted a full line against New York with 14 points (5-of-6 FGs), four rebounds, one assist, one steal, three blocks and two 3-pointers in a 117-94 loss on Wednesday.
George was decent in his preseason debut, but he was far better in game two. Washington traded up to get George at pick 24 this past summer, and the early returns have been good. He contributed across the board while maintaing efficient shooting splits against a tough Knicks squad that played their starters for most of this game. George should see plenty of minutes during his rookie year, but it is unlikely that he makes a significant fantasy impact. Dynasty managers will be keeping an eye on him as the preseason progresses.
  • WAS Small Forward
Kyshawn George posted a full line on Thursday with 11 points (2-of-7 FGs), two rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks and one triple against the Kings.
George’s strongest skill entering the draft was his 3-point shooting, and he has been an effective deep-range threat thus far this summer. He only added one 3-pointer in this game, and he is now averaging 1.8 triples through four games. He was able to contribute three “stocks” in this game, which was encouraging to see. He should see plenty of minutes as a rookie on a tanking team, but it’s unlikely that he contributes much in fantasy in year one, especially in category leagues.
  • WAS Small Forward
Kyshawn George shot 5-of-6 from the field and 1-of-3 from the foul line in Sunday’s loss to the Rockets, amassing 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block, and three 3-pointers in 25 minutes.
George’s perimeter shooting ability was one of the reasons why his name was called during the first round of last month’s draft. That attribute was displayed on Sunday afternoon, with the rookie shooting 3-of-4 from deep and 5-of-6 from the field overall. George does need to become more consistent as a defender, but the shooting ability is there. And in Washington, he’ll have opportunities to play because the franchise is in rebuilding mode.
  • WAS Small Forward
Kyshawn George was selected with the No. 24 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and subsequently traded to Washington in exchange for picks 26 and 51.
A native of Switzerland, George played one season at Miami (FL) before deciding to forego his remaining college eligibility and turn pro. Listed at 6-foot-7, 209 pounds, the 20-year-old wing didn’t offer much above-the-rim athleticism, but he was an efficient scorer in catch-and-shoot situations. The percentages from three (40.8% on 4.2 attempts per game) and the foul line (77.8%) suggest that George can develop into an effective shooter at the NBA level. And while he wasn’t a disruptive defender, the former Hurricane was rarely out of position within the team’s scheme. George may not project to be an elite 3-and-D wing, but he has the potential to be an effective contributor. The putrid Wizards could use all the help they can get, particularly at forward. George may see some meaningful run in his first NBA season.
