Baron Davis signs with D-League, eyeing NBA comeback

Miami Heat v New York Knicks - Game Three

NEW YORK, NY - MAY 03: Baron Davis #85 of the New York Knicks reacts after he was fouled as he made a 2-point basket in the second quarter against the Miami Heat in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals in the 2012 NBA Playoffs on May 3, 2012 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Baron Davis is 36 years old and hasn’t appeared in an NBA game in four seasons. The last time he played was in the 2012 playoffs with the Knicks, when he tore the ACL, MCL and patellar tendon in his right knee. But he hasn’t given up on his NBA career yet, signing a contract in the D-League in hopes of giving it another shot.

Via Yahoo’s Marc Spears:

Truthfully, with his age and with this much time off from NBA-level competition, it’s difficult to see him actually being able to help a team. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t give it a shot if he feels like he still has something left. Teams could do a lot worse with the 15th man on their roster if they’re looking for some veteran experience, at least. Just don’t expect him to play meaningful minutes at this point.
