Cavaliers’ Cedi Osman plans NBA jump in 2017

Tristan Thompson is the Cavaliers’ best unsigned asset, but he’s hardly their only one.

Cleveland has the Brendan Haywood trade exception, all its future first-round picks but one and the draft rights to No. 31 pick Cedi Osman and No. 53 pick Sir’Dominic Pointer.

The Cavs won’t see return on Osman, who plays for Anadolu Efes in Turkey, for a while.

In my mind, in the summer of 2017, I’m going to make the big step and go to the United States to play in the NBA.

At 22 and after some full seasons in the Euroleague and the TBL, I’d like to go to the NBA and begin my effort there. I’m happy that my rights are owned by the Cleveland Cavaliers and I hope that when I go there, I’ll meet LeBron James! I have a lot to learn from him!

Everything in life has to happen at the right time.

Osman is a good passer for a small forward, and he’s athletic. He could become a nice NBA player, though his shot needs major work. I rated him a low first-rounder.

The Cavaliers, facing the luxury tax, surely appreciate him developing on someone else’s dime.
