The long wait is finally over: On Sunday, Blake Griffin will play in a game for the Clippers for the first time since their Christmas Day win over the Lakers. He’s been recovering from a quad injury as well as a broken hand suffered in a fight with a team staffer in January, for which he’s currently serving a four-game suspension. He was activated last Sunday, which started the clock on that punishment. Doc Rivers says he’s good to go tomorrow against the Wizards:

Griffin also said, though, that the tear in his quad is still there and may need to be addressed again in the offseason.

The Clippers have seven games left in the regular season and are pretty much locked into the fourth seed in the Western Conference. It will be helpful to have a few games to get Griffin re-acclimated in the flow of the team before the playoffs, when they will likely face either the Grizzlies or the Blazers. They need a healthy and productive Griffin to make a serious run.
