This one is not a flop.

Vlade Divac, the former NBA All-Star (2001) who was part of some very good Lakers and Kings teams in his 16-year NBA career, and has since gone on to be a global ambassador of the NBA, had to have emergency spleen surgery in his native Serbia, according to reports.

There was this from the Sports Xchange via the Chicago Tribune.

Doctors said in a statement that Divac was admitted to a Belgrade hospital after feeling “strong pains in his stomach.” However, his life was not threatened. His health problem was not specified.

Then there was this from Ailene Voisin of the Sacramento Bee.

Divac is the current head of the Serbian Olympic Committee. He also still works with NBA events in Europe, such as EuroCamp, promoting the league and the game.

Divac averaged 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds a game in his NBA career, although he is often best remembered as the answer to the trivia question “Who did the Lakers trade to the Hornets for the draft rights to Kobe Bryant?”

We wish him a speedy recovery.
