On Monday night, the Hawks became the first team in the NBA to reach 50 wins, improving to 50-13 with a 130-105 blowout of the Kings. But the win didn’t just cement them as the team with the best record in the NBA, it was one of the best games played by any team this season, and one of the best in franchise history.

As a team, the Hawks made 20 three-pointers, a new franchise record. Kyle Korver (6), DeMarre Carroll (4) and Paul Millsap (3) combined for 13 by themselves, and four other Hawks added to the total. As a team, they shot 20-f0r-36 from deep.

The Hawks also logged 42 assists as a team on Monday, the most for any team this season and the most the franchise has had since 1993. Their franchise record is 57 wins, and with 19 games left in the season, they’d have to go 6-13 to not set a new mark. That doesn’t sound very likely.

They didn’t need to prove anything else, but Monday night’s performance just proves, in case anyone still doubted it, how special this Hawks group is.
