Hawks waive DeShawn Stevenson, will sign DeMarre Carroll
DeShawn Stevenson started 31 games for the Hawks last season, but as the team continues its summer overhaul of the roster, Stevenson and his contract of $2.2 million are now a thing of the past.
Atlanta has waived Stevenson and will replace him by signing DeMarre Carroll, according to a report from Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The move is one that has apparently been planned for some time.
Stevenson shot 36.4 percent from three-point distance last season, and can play either the shooting guard or small forward positions. But he averaged just 5.1 points in 20.7 minutes per game, while appearing in just 56 contests due to struggling with a knee injury.
With Stevenson now gone, all five players Atlanta received in last summer’s deal that sent Joe Johnson to Brooklyn have been cleared from the roster.
