Kevin Love: ‘Whatever we were doing with our hands was about as true as me going to the Lakers’

Let’s recap Kevin Love’s week. The important parts. Not anything that happened on the court.

Where does the truth fall?

Love, via Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal:

“Whatever we were doing with our hands was about as true as me going to the Lakers,” Love said Friday. “Going to the Lakers, I don’t know where someone got that.”

If you want to read closely, that’s not a denial. Take that for what it’s worth.

Also notice Love doesn’t acknowledge the part of the report that said he’d opt out. The financials make him opting out all but certain, though it’s not seen as an appropriate topic for Love during the season.

And if he opts out, why shouldn’t he look around? I still think he returns to Cleveland, but it’d be foolish not to hear out the Lakers.

Love hit one issue directly: The handshake gesture looked like what everyone thought it looked like. Love, via Lloyd:

“I don’t know why it was so hard for people to realize we were actually curling our mustache. I guess because I had my fingers in the wrong place,” he said. “But looking at the tape, film don’t lie. It does look like we’re doing something bad, but that’s not the case.”

I appreciate Love owning up to that rather than blaming the media and fans for running wild. We all know how it looked, though only he and Irving know how it was supposed to look.
