The good news is it wasn’t something serious — Kyrie Irving’s scary knee injury turned out to be a knee contusion.

Still, you had to expect he would miss a little time.

Irving is out Thursday night as the Cavaliers take on the Magic, as reported by the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Jarrett Jack will get the start at the point.

Irving remains day-to-day

Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $60,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Thursday night’s games. It’s $25 to join and first prize is $8,500. Starts at 7pm ET on Thursday. Here’s the FanDuel link.

The Cavaliers have lost six in a row and are 10-21 on the season. Because they are in the sad Eastern Conference the Cavs are just three games out of the playoffs, and the goal of the organization is still to make that push (which is why there was Pau Gasol trade talks in the first place). However, they need to beat teams like Orlando (and Brooklyn Saturday) if they are going to make the postseason.
